ALLEVIATE

Working to alleviate poverty in underserved communities.

At the Ella Initiative, we believe that the best way to eradicate poverty is by working with women, who can in turn bring resources and wisdom to her own family and children. Working to provide basic services that alleviate poverty is a cornerstone of our work because â…” of domestic care globally is done by women - vital economic contribution that is underpaid, undervalued, and unregulated.

Mental
Health
first

Those who are facing serious challenges, such as poverty or healing from trauma, can not be empowered until basic needs are addressed.

That's why we take a mental-health-first approach to economic empowerment, bringing basic services to those who need it in underserved communities.

workshops
that empower

We design custom empowerment workshops to meet women in poverty where they're at with what they've got.

group therapy
dance therapy
art therapy

We use various forms of therapy to create community and build resilience for women who participate.

Most of the women we work with come from poverty have never experienced a dance class or picked up a paintbrush before.

Community
EFFECT

The effect of the work we do with women trickles down and enriches entire communities.

UN Women believes that addressing the needs of women is one of the best ways to empower local economies.
